A Case of Duodenal Diverticulum Associated with Chronic Cholecystitis

Abstract
It is well known that a symptomatic duodenal diverticulum is a rare surgical entity, the diagnosis of which is generally made by exclusion.
We experienced a case of duodenal diverticulum associated with chronic cholecystitis, which was successfully treated by surgical intervention. The relationship between chronic cholecystitits and duodenal diverticulum was not verified.
Reviewing literatures and from our experiences in this regard, it is agreeable that operation for duodenal diverticulum is absolutely indicated when no other diseases or morbid conditions are attributable to the particular symptoms complained by the patient. It would seem advisable to remove a duodenal diverticulum carefully at the time of other surgery if it does not significantly increase the surgical risk.
